How do you handle birthday celebrations?

Do you take the day off and eat whatever you want?

Do you give in and have "just a bite" of cake?

as a personal preference I can not do things in moderation. it doesn't work for me. I am ketogenic for life and I have not had any real carbs in almost a year.

so to answer your question...

I did not have any cake or anything for my birthday. my family ate if for me...

I'm 74. The last thing I want is someone reminding me what my newest number is...unless it's Social Security saying "Happy Birthday", we're doubling your check!

I know there are a lot of people to can have a taste of something or even a cheat meal and then get right back on track. I am not one of those people. I seriously believe that I am "addicted" to carbs and just one taste can take me months to get back on track.

Diabetes doesn't take a day off, so I don't take a day off from controlling it either.

That being said, I intend to learn how to make some LCHF treats.

Just had a birthday, while I was on vacation the week before last. Ate dinner at a Turkish restaurant with Mrs. S. and a couple of friends. Had unsweetened Turkish coffee for dessert.

I do have a confession though. I have never been a big fan of cake, unless you count cheesecake.

I need to try a low carb cheesecake recipe one of these days.

Still having birthday cake, but small pieces. However, family members are now having problems with frosting being too sweet (my grandmothers warned us about this) so working out alternatives.

I'm more of a fan of pie than cake, so not really a problem for me.

I am like Cricket, I am an addict when it comes to one bite of something that is off limits. There is no such thing as one bite of cheesecake, pie, candy etc.

I also have been what I call 'bad', been having a time lately with staying on track. Vowed yesterday to get with the program at LCHF again.
