<insert all of the curse words> - got a last minute appt with the Diabetes Educator and the Nurse - was excited to get some proper information on how to properly carb count etc. DE stated right away that she disagrees with my Internal Specialist that I'm a Type 1 at all... convinced I'm still a Type 2. Then she goes on to say, we will be treating your symptoms anyway, so it doesn't matter the label. Which to me is the best news... who cares the label, let's make me better. But it was all in her delivery - the DE is also a Type 1 - since childhood. She went back to my specialist and told him that even though he took me off of MET last week - in his words it was doing nothing for me - that I should be on Glumetza now instead.

End of the day, I got nothing from that appointment but frustration, anger and a dose of what I feel was fat shaming.

Speaking of... I'm up 21 lbs in the past 7 weeks since coming home from the hospital and I'm retaining water quite a bit. My BP was slightly elevated but not concerning. Twenty One Pounds. Nothing fits and I'm beside myself. Since going on the insulin almost 3 weeks ago I have had bits of carb here and there - but nothing even worth mentioning really...

Going to talk to a Psychologist tomorrow.... after the DKA and my wonky diagnosis and my rapid weight gain - I'm pretty darn overwhelmed with emotions.

Every day is day one in this new adventure. Hoping for a good one today.
