Default The Effect of Stress?

Hi,

I was wondering what effect stress can have on BG levels.

I live in South Florida and am dealing with Hurricane Irma and all that goes with her. Needless to say, my stress level is slightly elevated. My fasting blood glucose this morning was 179. I thought it was a mistake so I tested again and had a reading of 177. Normally I run much lower, around the 130s to 140s with an occasional 120-something thrown in for good measure.

Anyway, just thought I'd ask the experts.

Thanks,

B

I live in S Fla also. Been putting up shutters, etc. my blood sugar has been about the same as us usual. I am just on 1000 mg of met per day. My eating the last couple of days has been light especially on carbs as the heat takes away my appetite. Be safe! We will survive. Fla is the best prepare of any state for this.

They tried 1000 mg of met when I was first diagnosed and I was doubled over in pain after a week or two. Now on glimepiride 2 mg twice daily. No pain but not as effective. Blood draw next week (Lord willing) then meet with doc the week after to revisit meds. Would like to try metformin again, but slowly.

Good luck during the storm. I'm shuddering up today as well.

Be Safe!!!!

Ha! Meant to say "shuttering." Must be a Freudian slip of some sort!

I am also in S Fla. My blood sugars run about the same as yours. Yesterday is was only 101 today I took it three times 143, 116 and 130. Ate the same thing both days. I have no explanation.

Thankfully we did okay with Irma. Even survived the "hurricane diet" with my numbers in tact!
