Default Contour Glucometer

Last February while in the States I purchased a Contour glucometer since my daughter uses this brand at her work on the surgery floor for an eye clinic. When I compared the reading two weeks ago between the hospital A1c and BG and the Contour which I took with me, there was a 20 point difference in the BG. All I have read online about the Contour is that is it 98% accurate. Should I add 20 points to each reading I take? Adding 20 points make some of my readings higher than my personal goal of 140. Can you all help me think through this discrepancy?

Hoping to control by diet to bring A1c down to 5's
