What Excuses Are You Still Holding On To?

Over the last 5+ years, I don't think there was an excuse I didn't use as to WHY my diabetes wasn't 100% under control.
  • Doctors didn't agree if I was type 2 or type 1.5
  • My thyroid and pituitary gland are funky.
  • Normal people have cheat days or you lose it completely.
  • My journey is different from everyone else.
  • I am addicted to carbohydrates.
  • My body is broken.
The last excuses I am still holding on those involving getting back into fitness again.
  • It's too hot.
  • It's too cold.
  • I don't have enough time.
It's time for me to focus on this last list of excuses.

What excuses are you still holding on to?

What steps are you taking to overcome them?

My favorite excuse is: "To hell with it!" :D

I've given up on excuses. As long as you keep trying! Those times where I do screw up - like last week when I ate Egg Rolls and Spring Rolls with plumb sauce - very tasty. I gave myself extra units to compensate for it but it didn't seem to matter - My BG Levels shot up to 20.8/375 before bedtime. I'll spare you the first words out of my mouth when I saw that. Fortunately I'm an expert in getting my BG levels down as I've had lots of practice and by the morning when I tested again I has 5.5/100.
Sometimes you think you can get away with it - unfortunately the end result usually ends up with BIG HIGHS.

I have only had, and still only have, one excuse. "I cannot eat properly because of my husband's eating habits." Please don't tell me that he does not put the food in my mouth, I do. I already know that. LOL

This is an excellent excuse! I know longer have it though. My husband does all the cooking and every thing is lchf. I'm the one who cheats when out.

I do the cooking, and I cook mainly LC, but I do add a starch for him. It's the snacks and junk food, sweets, french fries. I used to eat like him. I got fat and he did not. I do a pretty good job of avoiding it because I don't want a spike, but I'm far from perfect with it. When I was first diagnosed, HE was in denial. Now he will tell me if something is going to raise blood sugar. I think he just wants me to stay out of his stash. LOL

I think there is still a little bit of "cares for you' in there too. But your first impression could be dead on, with stash protection leading by a couple of percentage points at this time. LOL
