Default Humulin 70/30

Hi everyone,

Went to my doctor today he had a new prescription waiting on me when I got there. It is called Humulin 70/30. I am to have 28 units in the morning and 14 in the afternoon. He took me off Lantis. Have any of you taken Humulin before? If so, is it better than Lantis in your opinion? Thanks. All comments welcome.

These type of mixed insulins are 30% intermediate-acting insulin with 70% long-acting insulin. And...they're usually prescribed to be taken before a fast-acting insulin.

Are they better than Lantus? Well...let's say they're different. Were you on Lantus, a basal insulin and on Humalog, a bolus insulin...that would be close to what you're doing now, except...with a different basal and bolus insulin you can adjust either. With Humulin 70/30 all you can do is adjust the volume.

When a doctor switches your's always a good idea to ask them why.
