And my point remains the same. Someone's corporate/legal/moral/optical view is that this changes things. If it's wrong (not debating the point; using it as a grammatical construction) then it should change in the face of hard facts. But us humans can be amazingly resistant to facts when they get in the way of their preferred narrative. You can look all around for evidence of that.

I don't disagree with you on any point you've made. I don't disagree with the idea that syringes should be harder to get than the insulin itself. I'm just illustrating that there are many people who believe that "just saying no" addresses the issue. I'm not the one you need to convince. They are.

Most people in a zombie apocalypse only have to worry about the dreaded situation of lots of canned food but no can opener but what happens if the poop hits the fan and all the narcotics and needles are already looted from the pharmacy and all you can find is insulin but no needles ?

You have to plan for these things if you want to be one of the survivors. Of course when the insulin runs out you may have to follow the zombies and when they are done with the brains you go for the pancreases.

What scary is as a newbee I feel type 1 has taken some of my independence.

I just think we should all fight to keep insulin and needles over the counter cause the fact that I will die without that stuff makes it feel really coercive to show ID to get needles and to go into my money to pay for doctors appointments. I will be going to doctors, but I would rather do so voluntarily then under death threats.

Some of my family didn't get why I got so upset with these pharmacy's profiling me as an addict CVS and then Walgreens (go and get your ID)

What these pharmacy's were really saying is you will be submissive and our subordinate or we will let you die.

I would rather die on my feet so to say then to live on my knees.

John Stuart Mill, "On Liberty", 1859:

The only purpose for which power can be rightly exercised over any member of the community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others. His own good, either physical or moral, is not sufficient warrant... Each person is the proper guardian of his own health.

The eminent theologian C. S. Lewis wrote:

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
1. I had a dunce, at a pharmacy treat me like a junkie, because I came there to pick uo a box of syringes. It (he) called the issuing doctor, and dissed me, with aplomb, and with satisfaction even.

2. In this day and age, dumbkopfs get to have nominal power, and there is no remedy for that. They get to demand "Driver license ID, or else."

3. John Stuart Mill and C.S. Lewis are not studied these days, and you can judge a person by what they think of great authors. I had the book On Liberty, I may still have it.

4.The clerk at CVS, and the pharmacist, do not read those books. Nor do they care for Dostoyevsky; and my friend, that has made for a pack of idiots, in America today.

5. And, that is why you have to show an ID to get a box of syringes. That and the plague of junkies that have made America a pig sty. [And a lot of freedom, has been irrevocably lost, because of scurrillous vermin, like junkies.]

Note: I put out 6 or 7 American flags, on my front porch, on July 1 or there-abouts. I left 2 of them up, I am a big fan of July 4th.
