Can we change the name of diabetes to something else, it sounds yucky too me

Sorry but it sounds to much like scabies, yuck ! And I don't really "have" anything, what I have is a deficiency an insulin deficiency so its really the condition of me not having something that is my problem.

Its similar thing with cystic fibrosis, CF. People with CF do not have a problem with cysts or anything with fibers or cysts on fibers of some sort but it sounds that way.

We should rename this thing.

CF is both cysts and fibrosis:

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cystic_fibrosis
Quote:

CF is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner.[1] It is caused by the presence of mutations in both copies of the gene for the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) protein.[1]

The name "cystic fibrosis" refers to the characteristic fibrosis and cysts that form within the pancreas

Not going to happen. I'd pick a different battle, one that you may perhaps be able to win.

TooSweetForMe 07-19-2018 15:41

or Carb allergy.

Sounds like scabies and rabies, I think it being plural is what makes it sound like a disease of multiple small things crawling or swimming inside.

Would diabeti sound less plural?

Diabetes is a useful word ..the French translation is ✻Diabte✻ ..the Italian translation is ✻diabete✻ ..the German translation is ✻Diabetes✻ ..the Swedish translation is ✻diabetes✻ ..this might prove helpful in an emergency?

Wouldn't that just be the plural of "diabetum"?1
