Hi, I’m not trying to be funny but I decided to be an ostridge and hide my head into a hole. I’ll keep taking the Metformin but in between Dr appointments I’m going to pretend I am fine and don’t have Diabetes. Will continue taking 500mg tab once a day. In my mind it’s not advanced enough for major concern for me.
If things change down the road I’ll rethink this. No one has to respond. Thanks to all.

Nurse practitioner did her thing today and all tests normal A1C 6.4 on bubble for Diabetes. Metformin is doing its job. She said my sugar was very slightly elevated lose a few pounds and numbers will even go lower. Super news to start off the New Year. Hope you all get good news too

Ratter51, congratulations on keeping that A1c down.

It sounds like you have a little more work to do, but you've made significant changes and you're going in the right direction.

OK guys/gals did a meter need an opinion. My A1C from home practitioner was 6.4 but when I do the the fasting test this morning and the last couple times is always a little high. Just now it’s 160. The last couple times 160 plus. Why is the meter test 160’s and the A1C just under the Diabetes bubble? One contradicts the other. Maybe the meter is broke??? I only used it a dozen times in the last year. The strips do t expire till mid 2019. The code is correct for the strips. Is this that phenomenon I read about the glucose is always extra high in the morning? Thanks

A1C is an average of the last 3 months

taking a test strip test tells you what you are now.

so they are very different.

seeing higher numbers now (strips) over your A1C is an indication that your numbers are getting worse and your next A1C will be higher

Maybe your mild case is going beyond mild. How the heck could that happen? Are you getting concerned yet?
