Thanks for the responses. I’m not sure where I’m going with this yet. I look at labels and it seems everything good has too many carbs. I don’t like to cook and don’t like some of the recommended foods. Giving up bread is impossible for me. I strongly dislike yams or sweet potatoes. Beets make me gag. I keep getting a magazine....a couple really for Diabetes and they usually have a famous person on the front cover. They seem to be all about food. Special food shopping and recepees and measuring cups... yikes. Are there any TV dinners for people with slightly high sugar??? Healthy Choice stopped being sold at Shop Rite supermarket. They were pretty tasty. Don’t want to go vegetarian, that sucks too. I do like the Hungry Man turkey TV dinners but have not gotten them in a year now. It’s just way too much to switch foods at this time.
In fact my doctor said let him worry about my sugar. It’s in excellent control as of last A1C. It all just sucks.

Listen:

Thought about getting these butterscotch Crumpets calories not too too bad but carbs are high. It seems everything has a lot of carbs. I guess for diabetics you can have wet grass but don’t put anything on the wet grass because you’ll go over the carbs recommendation. This whole diabetic diet is a bunch of BS. I did not get them anyway. But it’s just a bunch of frustrating BS.
It’s just not worth the crap you gotta go through. Gonna get a drink of water..... but if I add a squirt of lemon juice.... I guess it will be too many carbs. F this ****. I no longer care.
No need for responses..... good luck to everyone.

interesting way of thinking about it...

in actuality I eat eggs and bacon and cheese and steak and vegetables and soups and chicken and pork and seafood , there are some really nice deserts that can be made or bought. (1 minute chocolate mug cakes, etc)...

there are ways to lower carbs and not just have water... but you have to want change and it appears you dont at the moment and thats all good.

as I have said before, I hope you are able to handle everything without diet and never need this site for anything. that would truly be my wish.

good luck my friend

Diabetes DOES suck! You can choose to ignore it or work with it. I choose to work with it. We're not forcing you to take care of your health, but this is a diabetic forum where we gather to support one another. I don't know if your comments are meant to get a rise out of us or if you're one of those people who are afraid to ask for help, so you rant. You obviously care a little bit; otherwise, you wouldn't be posting. Maybe someday, you will join us and become a beacon of hope to a newbie :smile2:.

Super news. Had bloodwork a couple days ago and got results and my A1C is now down to 6.4 down from 6.7 last report. I am now under Diabetic threshold of 6.5. The only thing I can figure is the Metformin is doing it. The Dr also called & cut the Metformin to once a day 500mg. But he said keep taking all meds. Was in ER all day Sunday from herniated disc and that unbelievably corrected itself next day.
Again I am under the diabetes number and thatís super news. Iím now pre diabetic.

first - CONGRATULATIONS!!! its really great news

second - you are not prediabetic. if that was true, I would not be diabetic at all anymore. Unfortunately, this disease is not curable and not reversible. you are managing your diabetes with medication but you didnt reverse it to prediabetes. whatever damage was done that resulted in your insulin not being able to keep up with your blood sugar is still damaged. you are just using medicine to help get the blood sugar to the cells.

In any case - its GREAT that you numbers have gotten better!

someone can correct me if I am wrong but A1C is a 3 month average of your blood sugar. Glucose is what it is when you took the test

blood glucose of 182 is high. its worse if it was a fasting test

hftmrock 10-20-2018 03:24

Whatís the difference between a blood sugar self-test and the A1C test you get at your doctorís office or a lab?
  • A self-testówhich you perform with a blood glucose meterótells you what your blood sugar level is at that point in time.
  • An A1C test measures the average amount of sugar in your blood over the past 2 to 3 months.

It gives you and your doctor a better idea of how well your treatment plan has been working over time

Ratter51 10-20-2018 12:02

so then it’s been good overall the last 3 months but glucose is high just the day of the bloodwork because I ate breakfast. So then over all I’m still ok. The Dr never said don’t eat until the test but next time he does bloodwork I won’t eat on my own. On the results the 6.4 is still highlighted as high with normal being 5.6 I doubt it will ever get that low for me. I eat bacon and eggs and toast every morning or McDonalds or Wawa but I can cut the bacon to every other day. Plus an egg sanwhich cost less without bacon. Ok thanks
