I am curious as to what is available technology wise.
Being T2D I use a monitor for BGL and a fitbit for heart rate, exercise and sleep monitoring. The fitbit auto uploads to an app which is great and all the data is there, for my weight and BGL readings I keep a spreadsheet.
What I am wondering is:
1) Is there an app or device that would allow automatic integration of all this data?
2) how do others track all their data?
N.B: I am aware for some (unacceptable in my opinion) reason many of the BG monitors don't allow access to your data, even when it is stored.
Working the problem (insulin delivery) from a different angle is the InPen which is an insulin pen that communicates with HealthKit via Bluetooth.
I'm guessing there are other approaches/solutions on the way and I can't see Apple doing it without Google at least trying to do it, so there may be an Android version of Healthkit, as well. Since I live in Apple's "walled garden", though (and I don't have a CGM or use insulin), I haven't investigated much.
My meter (Agamatrix) has an iOS app (also available for Android) that can be populated by the meter (if it has Bluetooth on board; mine does not) or manually. It will track and chart BG levels, insulin used, and carbs eaten. (That part works regardless of the meter brand, of course.)
The Agamatrix app will communicate via HealthKit but I haven't set that up because I'm not fully on board that train out of information-security concerns. I migrated from the app to a (OpenOffice) spreadsheet because I liked the charting options on the spreadsheet far better. The app will export data but I had to do enough massaging of the data once it got to my spreadsheet that it was about as easy to enter my BG readings manually (which allows me to more easily filter out the "dirty data" I get on the days I have to poke myself more than one time for a trustworthy reading), plus I can annotate each entry on the spreadsheet with what was unusual for that day (felt ill, unusual levels of exercise, weird eating schedule, etc.). It's worked for me.
