Why does my blood sugar reading increase
Why does my blood sugar reading go from 93 to 105 during fasting .
Yesterday I went from 106 to 113
It happens between 12 to 24 hours of not eating , nothing absolutely nothing .
I only eat super at 5pm .
I had 3 diet dr pepper's today at work , not sure if my soda raises my blood sugar .
For a long time, i suffered from the "dawn" or "morning phenomena". When i was fasting, my blood sugar would go up until I ate something. Now that ive been better about my eating the last few months, I've not experienced that. If you google those terms, there's lotsa info out there about it. Good Luck. :)
yesdear, measuring blood glucose levels is not an exact science. There are many factors which can affect a reading, including from where the blood is drawn, how big the sample is, how clean the test site is, etc.
Blood also is not homogeneous so it's possible that the very small sample used by current blood glucose meters will iffer substantially from drop to drop, even on the same finger within seconds of each reading. BlkHillsBagger also raises an important point about dawn phenomenon affecting morning fasting readings.
A difference of only 7 or even 12 points at normal blood glucose levels is not unexpected and should not be a source of concern as far as managing blood glucose goes. It may not be satisfying to think of it as a margin of error, but that's what it is.
Also the morning phenomena may be your liver reacting to a drop in your blood sugar, it reacts by adding sugar to your blood stream. In you case I am inclined to agree with itssteve, above, you fluctuation is so minimal that it could be your normal meter variance or difference in time and location when blood sample was taken.
My biggest fluctuation is when I do an intense work-outs, my BS will go up 40-50 pts. So I keep my workout to lower intensity, just going a longer time...that's works for me...
