Default Diabetes Caravan

I saw a news story Sunday morning that caught my interest. Basically a public interest story and one that I can certainly appreciate.

Apparently the cost of insulin is significantly higher in the USA than it is in Canada. Not sure why - maybe there are Government subsidies at play but with the lower Canadian dollar one would think it would be the exact opposite problem but it's not.

Interesting story on how Americans with Diabetes organized a caravan to drugstores on the Canadian side of the border to purchase their insulin because of the price difference.

My private health plan covers my entire health/medical costs and for that I am grateful but before working for my current employer, my health insurance was not as good and as a result I had to purchase some of my supplies and at that time it was difficult and really made me feel vulnerable.

One of the reasons why I changed jobs - because of the health plan. Any forum members who live close to the border may want to consider this if you're finding things a little financially difficult. Same product, same manufacturer but a significantly different price.
