Why is it that I can edit some, but not all of my posts? I'm an administrator for a different forum (one for exchange students) that also uses vBulletin, and I can edit all my posts (plus everyone else's too ). We use version 3.6.8; this forum uses 3.8.7. So what's up?

It might be because you aren't a moderator here . . . I can do everything you named on anybody's posts, but it's a cinch every member doesn't have such authority. But I don't know if there's a time limit on editing your own posts or not . . . maybe some of our veterans will pipe up on this.

I think too, that there are varying options for the way the boards are set up, to use at the admin's discretion.

There are settings in the Admin control panel in vB that allow editing of posts to be not allowed at all, allowed for a time period decided by the admin, or allowed forever.

(I'm a vB administrator on several forums elsewhere.)

If you're still using 3.6.8, you really need to upgrade soon; the developers have identified a lot of vulnerabilities since that version was released.

That must be it. I looked more closely and it looks like I can edit within 24 hours or so. That's fine. I'll just start proofreading more carefully.

Thanks. I'm actually not the board owner (is that the right word?), so I'll have to pass it along. But he'll mind me.

In my experience, typos tend to show up immediately after you press the submit button (if you can't edit at all) or are found by someone else just after the editing period expires if you can.

It could be a financial thing. vB is not cheap, and upgrades are only available if you pay an annual subscription.
