Can one have increased anxiety when you have diabetes ? Is it the worry about diabetes or is it the anxiety? I know my anxiety is full swing .Do you understand what I'm saying

Does it matter? If you're agitated, you're agitated. And if you're medicating for anxiety, it should cover all of it.

No, you cannot use whole wheat flour - grains of all kinds raise your blood sugar. Health food stores should have whey powder/protein powder.
Claudette? Are you reading any of the other threads on our forum? There is a lot of information here that you could use, but you're going to have to read other threads to find it.

Firstly, thanks for all your responses. I'd like to quickly reply to Shanny before discussing anything else. Yes, I am not a diabetic myself. My father, who is from India has recently been diagnosed with diabetes. I am currently in the US and while there isn't much that I can do to help my dad in his everyday life, I have spent the last month generally trying to understand how people try to control their diabetes so that I can pass on the information to my mother who is currently looking after my dad. My parents aren't very tech savvy , so they do not know how to browse through forums and learn about things. I talk to them about 3 times a week and generally update them on the things I have learnt and also enquire about their health. My father has been seeing his doctor as and when needed, but I just felt that as a son, the least I could do is try and be aware of my father's condition and help in whatever little way I can.

So, yes Shanny, there might not be much at stake for me. But I think this forum has been very helpful to my parents. I am sorry if this has been a breach of the rules of the forum. If so, I will leave the forum at once.

Thanks.

Thank you for the comprehensive explanation. I wish you had introduced yourself this way instead of with the enigmatic inquiry you used.

I'm going to move your thread to another department where family & friends can make all the inquiries they want, without raising red flags among us mods that they are writing a research paper or inventing a new meter of some sort.

There's no need for you to leave the forum; just be honest with us.

I'll PM you the new link for your thread.

Thanks a lot Shanny. I didn't realize that there was so much to this. I guess being a moderator isn't as easy as people think it is.

Thanks again!

Huh. I've been here almost 3 months and didnít realize there is a Friends and Family of Diabetics section. I'm glad I keep reading. Learning more every day - even aside from the diabetes.

Don't feel bad. I've been on here over a year and didn't know about the FAF section.

I didn't, either!

Aha. I didn't see it listed on the navigation panel on the right or the Diabetes Forums list on the top of the screen, but if you go to the Home page here, it's listed:
