Wish someone had answered your question because I am a type II thinking about it. Did you find anything out from other sites?

I'm afraid there were no responses because we have nobody here trying to conceive. :( Hope there is help on other forums.

What I've read thus far is that your blood sugar must be well controlled starting at conception and throughout the first trimester for sure although ideally the entire pregnancy for the best chance of avoiding complications.

If it is not extremely well controlled from conception and through the first trimester the rates of deformities were much higher than for both non-diabetics and even women with type 1 diabetes.

Also the complications for the mother can be higher for type II diabetics if they are not very well controlled. I think it stated possibility of preeclampsia and a few other things I've forgotten that were higher than the average non-diabetic or even type 1.

However, that was just my readings online.

I also saw an article that said if you are well controlled then the pregnancy should be very similar in outcome as any non-diabetic.

I guess I'll just have to have a serious long talk with the doctor considering it says you must be well controlled prior to conception for the best outcome.

It does make me nervous though as I am still struggling to get my sugars under control at the moment.
