Default Dexcom G4 Studio

I got the e-mail yesterday from Dexcom about their software upgraded to run on Windows 8.

I installed it and it reads data from the meter fine, but now insists on telling me I have two meters attached and will neither allow me to view in PDF format nor print.

There's no save option beyond export, so to be readable at least on a PC the data is basically lost.

I'd really like to be able to print the various graphs available on the software and save them for review.

Anybody have any luck?

This is what worked for me and depending on what operating system you are using -might- work for you. I use Windows 7.

Select the report you want to see.
Select the Snipping Tool (in Win7)
Then use the snipping tool to select the report as you see it in your computer screen.
Save your report picture on your PC.
Then either share the picture or print it.

Hope this works for you.

Thanks, Strawberry! Regrettably, I'm using Win 8. Perhaps there's some equivalent if I can find it.

I can always print screen shots, of course, but it takes a lot of them.

I thought Dexcom Studio was supposed to be fully functional in Win 7?

Have you considered calling Dexcom and asking to speak with a tech advisor? Tell them of your difficulties and maybe they can advise you.

I think with any software program there is always a chance that somewhere along the line there might be a glitch. When I posted what worked for me, I actually got those instructions from a diabetic friend across the "pond". I have no idea what operating system he uses. It is frustrating...right?

No kidding. Besides which it took them forever to get FDA approval to make it public.

Well, the tech people at Dexcom have always been pretty good so I'm going to give it a shot.

The meter only stores data for a month at a time, I believe. I hate to just lose all that information!

Whatever you do, don't lose our copy of Win 7! The Win 8 upgrade is not inspiring, especially if you're a long-time Windows user.

My younger son bought a Toshiba laptop last year and it had Windows 8. I do not know what he did (because I am not tech savvy) but he brought it home and altered it considerably. Now it appears to have Windows XP even though it was manufactured with Win 8.

I know that many people complained to another company, Medtronics, that their mac PCs would not work with Medtronics Carelink. Carelink allows Medtronic pump users to download their pump at home and "share" the data with health care professionals. I believe Carelink has now been adjusted to accept Mac PCs.

I'm just lucky I guess that my PC does accept the new Dexcom software. Goodness knows it isn't because of my smarts.

Funny, I just bought a new laptop and kept windows 7 because I knew that dexcom and roche would have issues w/ 8.

I hadn't heard of Carelink, Strawberry. There's something similar called, I think, Diasend (I may well have that name wrong) that some people use. The difficulty with the latter is that it requires an identifying number from your endo and I'm not at all sure it reads Dexcom data.

I'll check on Carelink a bit later once I'm fully awake for the day.

Ebouchea, I'm just curious to know how you managed to keep Win 7 on a Win 8 laptop. Seems as though the architecture must be quite different. Strawberry, I can only guess at your son's solution.

Used to enjoy the constant fiddling with Windows that seems to go with it and I had used it since its infancy.

Several years of using Apple devices has definitely changed my perspective, however. A change that very much surprised me.

Finally got through to Dexcom last night.

Had to make an appointment to have a Studio specialist call me the first of the week.

Should be interesting.

Shanny and Mary, like this.
