- Your experiences with diabetes
- For years I was in a bit of denial with my diabetes. I did not want to make the sacrifices needed to keep my blood sugar under control. I went from metformin, 500 mg to metformin combined with Glipizide 5 Mg both two times a day. My metformin was increased to 1000 mg twice a day. My A1C was gradually rising. I had a blood test of 9.0 in the spring of 2017 and was put on long acting insulin before bedtime. I struggled with lows for a year and was gaining weight. On April 1st 2018, I discontinued the insulin and started getting serious about eating low carb. My weight was 144 at that point. It is now June 5th. My weight is down to 137, and I am taking only 500 mg of metformin and 2.5 Mgs of glipizide both twice a day. I am feeling wonderful and believe this is the right path for me.
