Here's another article that came out more recently:
It deals mostly with mice, investigating many details that would be impossible with humans, then includes the results of a 3-month trial with a small number of humans.
I was very pleased with my first attempt at a 5-day 800 cal whole food diet. My FBS had been running around 170, though was only 154 when I started. But by the end, it was down below 115. I'll keep on with this approach as I find it very doable. My second 5-day "fast" was less successful just because I was a lot sloppier. But it was very informative. I'm learning more about portion sizes and alcohol. Being low carb and unafraid of fat before I started made it relatively much easier to follow I'm sure.
I'm off to check out your current thread. It was good to get your message. Thanks.

Thank you for your kind comments, BlueGreenJean, about my diet attempt. In retrospect, I should have stuck with it.

Shanny in particular is a LCHF fanatic who will not allow any information about any other treatment go unchallenged. See my current thread about the study showing the order in which food is consumed affects how much blood sugar rises.

And how went/goes your diet attempt?

Hi cathyy. I followed your conversation about the Newcastle Diet several years ago with considerable interest. I had found the ND myself some months ago and finally got up the motivation to try, starting it a week ago. But I tried it using regular food, not liquid meals. See William Ware's article here

My diabetes history sounds much like yours, so I'm very interested in stopping the progression now if I can. So far it really hasn't been that hard which I attribute to (1) being keto-adapted and (2) getting my 800 calories while still eating low carb.

I was appalled at the quite vigorous condemnation you received on this forum for reporting on what seemed to be a promising approach to reversing diabetes.
