- About diabetes40
- I am a friendly, people-loving person. I ask a lot of questions and absorb it and usually have a pretty good memory. I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in November 2013. My doctor wrote me a script for Metformin and sent me on my way. No education, no other info was given to me.... which brought me here to Diabetes Forum. Thank goodness for this forum! In my short time here, I've learned valuable tips.
I am overweight, and have a lot of pounds to lose. I am hoping that losing my excess weight will help me reverse my Impaired Glucose Tolerance. I hope I can help others by sharing what I learn also!

- I am new to this and was not given any direction by my doctor, other than to take Metformin. I am trying to control my diabetes with diet though. So far I have noticed that what I eat has a huge effect on my blood glucose. I am currently experiencing the drunken feeling of blood sugar fluctuations though. It worries me. The highest my blood sugar has been so far is 10.8 mmol/l. That freaked me out. But it came down to 4.8 mmol/l after a 1/2 hour more. I get some good numbers, never under 4.8, but some bad ones even after fasting (6.8-7.8). I am very confused, but learning.
