- About Gizmo
- I am 69 years old, married over 50 years. We have 2 kids and 4 grandkids. DH retired from the Navy after more than 26 years. With all the moving around that comes with military life, I have been a secretary, day care worker, worked for a janitor service, worked at card factories and a lighting factory, and in my younger days, I worked at PhotoMat as a PhotoMate. That just means I sat in a little booth wearing an ugly orange and yellow striped skirt, blouse and beret and customers would drive up to the booth and bring film to be developed and pick up the pictures when ready.
I have always done a lot of cooking, do all kinds of crafts and like to play around on the computer making PowerPoint presentations to email to friends. I also enjoy creating birthday cards on the computer.

- Your experiences with diabetes
- DH also has type 2, we manage with diet - lc/hf and no meds or insulin.
Type 2 has ravaged my family. Both parents (deceased), 3 siblings (one lost a leg, then lost his life due to complications from the surgery), my son, my grandaughter (also has PCOS), father-in-law (lost his leg - deceased), brother-in-law and sister-in-law (5' 2", over 300 pounds), a close family friend (now totally blind, lost both legs, in horrible health, and he is only in his 40's).
When DH and I were diagnosed, I scoured the web, hoping there was some way to control this monster. Luckily, I found this forum right away. I have no doubt this forum saves lives.
