Tony, apologies again for taking so long to respond. This time my excuse is vacation-related (Florida!), and the iPhone/iPad apps for this forum just don't give me the same abilities to read/post/like etc, so I don't even bother checking the site until I get back onto a regular computer.
Wanted to at least mention, in case you were interested...I do think they have an A1c monitor that's just like your regular bg monitor, in case you wanted to have more frequent DIY readings. I can't speak for their reliability or accuracy, but they are out there and may be of interest to you. I plan on speaking with my endo about them when I see her next month, to see if they're worth the trouble and expense. Then again, if I'm in the fives like I plan to be by then, getting the A1c meter might be pointless, as I will have achieved my goal and will know that I'll be able to stay there as long as I keep my regular bg numbers consistent...
Hey, Tony, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Turkey day + inlaws = no time on the computer. :-)
The frequency of my A1c tests has been essentially coincidental, but definitely not unwelcome. My first was at the ER after I really realized there was a problem and didn't want to wait a week until my already-scheduled endo appt (with diabetes in the family I just wanted to kind of get started with an endo preemptively; turned out to not be preemptive at all). My second was a week later at that initial endo appt. My third was from my life insurance renewal application (also quite coincidentally-timed about two weeks later) and my fourth was at my second endo appt. #5 won't be until the second week of January, at my third doc visit.
I've been very grateful to have had these tests like this, because they've provided me with the positive feedback I really need. January 10 I absolutely WILL be in the fives!
Hey How are you doing. Thanks for your messages on my threads. I was just curious about why you were getting your HbA1c(s) done every 15-20 days ? Any particular reason ?
Just asking out of curiosity :-)
