Unhappy Mahjongmama jan

hi..I am in my 60s, married to a 65 year old man who has had diabetes for 18 years, and has ignored it. After 10 years, he had a double triple bypass, and has since still ignored it. Over Memorial Day weekend, I think he had a TIA, and when he finally went to the doc, they discovered 50% carotid artery blockage, which the docs are not willing to treat at this time. For supper today he had a big bowl of spaghetti and meatballs, and his bs was 349 at 7 pm. He will not listen to me or anyone else, and I am having a tough time watching someone I care about self-destruct before my eyes. I need some ideas and skills to cope with this situation. Any ideas out there? Thank you. Jan

It is difficult to try to get someone to care for themselves when they don't want to. I wonder if you just started cooking healthier chicken recipes would he complain? Obviously he knows his health problems are probably because of his uncontrolled diabetes, right? And he just doesn't care? Maybe tell him you love him and can't bear to see him "killing" himself like this. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you the very best of luck. You are in a tough situation.
