The bad news is, once diabetic, always diabetic. The GOOD NEWS is that you can conrol it and once you have gotten into the habit of testing and eating only those foods that are safe (don't spike your BG) you can get on with your life.

I am T2 and not on any meds. I know what foods I can eat and what a safe meal consists of, and now I don't have to test nearly as often as I once did to gain that knowledge.

Shanny, Patdart and silvertiger like this.

Veejay, my faith will make me free from this; I feel it & I believe it. But thank u for letting me know that there is someone who is diagnosed & is leaving a pill free life. I'm going to identify all foods that raise my sugar then discipline myself. Thx again

Welcome. I'm new, too! Even though I've read a thousand posts on here for reference, I've somehow missed the 101 page so I'm gonna check that out too.

Default Question, question...

Welcome to the forum, Faith. My sister is diabetic like me, but for longer. She lost weight after her diagnosis and then started having some side effects. She finally went back to the doctor (before her scheduled re-check) and found out that her meds needed to be adjusted because of her weight loss. So my advice is that you need to be proactive in your treatment. If you don't ask, some doctors won't think to ask. It is your body, you need to take special care of it now. Keep up the good work!
