Hello, I am a new member who has not been diagnosed with Type II yet. My last regular blood test showed 130 BG fasting. I know that is high. I am overweight and want to take my prediabetes into my own hands by reading everything I can. The best thing to date I have found is this site. Everyone is so knowledgable and genuinely concerned about others. I have bought my meter and strips and plan to start using after I read through instructions. Thank you everyone!

Hello and welcome.

For starters you might want to check out Blood Sugar 101

and then, LCHF for Beginners | The first is for understanding the management of blood sugars, and the second is about our favorite diet strategy.

Happy Reading!

You have come to the right place and welcome!! Read the sites that Hitcheca has suggested, you will learn alot.

Also I was DX pre-diabetic in Jan. but treat myself as if I am a full blown diabetic.
When I first joined this awesome site someone here said 'there is no such thing as being pre-pregnant so there is no such thing as pre-diabetic'. I agree, I want to keep my numbers as low as possible for as long as possible to avoid any and all complications.

There are awesome recipes here and many members who know more than I do will come and answer any questions you may have.

But read the suggested sites, you will thank yourself for doing so.

HbA1C 5.1
No meds./control with diet or at least trying to.

'Thanks for being in my life today'.

What country are you in? I thought FBS above 126 was considered diabetes, not "pre"?

According to my endo., if a doctor is using FBS as a diagnosis, it has to be above 126 on two different occasions with blood tests, FWIW. An FBS of 130 + an A1C in diabetes levels would have to be used for a diagnosis other than pre. (again, FWIW).
