Default Hiya, from Missouri!

I am 34 and been diabetic more than half my life. Its not clear whether I am type 1 or type 2 since I was diagnosed as a teen, and have had 2 conflicting C peptide tests. I am getting my insulin pump tomorrow but still have to wait on the training but I am SUPER excited to start the new journey of my life! I look forward to chatting w/ you guys and learning new things that will help me, and maybe I know something that can help others!

You might want to acquire John Walsh's book, Pumping Insulin. It's a valuable resource. Also Gary Scheiner's Think Like a Pancreas. Both will help you manage with the pump and make your own adjustments. Personally I can't stand waiting around for the doctor or pump trainer to get back to me when I have questions.

BTW, A hearty welcome!

I would like to get those books and anything else, I can get my hands on..i love to learn but I am on a budget, which most people are, but there is just no wiggle room right now as Christmas is coming and I have 2 children! I am glad I found this as well. I don't know enough about all the pumping yet, but I will learn. I hate to admit it but I'm just now learning diabetes, which is something I should have learned years and years ago... I don't know I was young and dumb I guess cause I didn't do what I could when I was younger to prevent the problems I now have. One of my biggest problems w/ having diabetes, is that I am a VERY VERY picky eater and don't like most foods, so its hard to change eating habits when you don't like a lot of food...hopefully I can find recipes on here that I can try and will like ty all for the help and welcome.

Warmest welcome to you. Glad you've found us. Ask lots of questions knowing that we've all had to come to terms with living with diabetes so will offer all the support and encouragement we possibly can.

On a budget? You can find Dr Richard K Bernstein's book easily accessible for most chapters online at http:/www.diabetes-solution.net

As a library worker and part of Missouri's MOBIUS network, may I proudly recommend that you borrow it from your library, in Kennett? I know I have sent books there, and borrowed a few from there, myself!

Welcome -- there are quite a few of us from MO on here, and I look forward to hearing more from you!
