Default high fasting blood sugar

I have been observing from last couple of days that my fasting sugar levels remain in between 140 to 160 mg/dl at 5.30 am.I am type 2 diabetic.I almost test more than seven times in 24 houres with one touch ultra and i know it shows 21% high readings as i have compared it with lab tests so many times.I actually am worried about my fasting level after dinner i test after two houres and my readings generally fall between 135 to 140 mg/dl.When i wake up at 5.30 am i find my reading in between 140 and 160.That is really frurstrating for me.After a long brisk walk of 5 kms my fasting reading comes down to 135 to 140 again. Why it goes like that? Can anybody please help me out....
It means that my BG level remains in higher range during night houres. The readings i mentioned are taken from one touch ultra which has an error of +21%.I do not take any aliphatic drugs as yet however i take little Ayurved drug and mostly i manage it by little carb diet and brisk walking.

Hi showkat - welcome to the Forum. What sorts of food do you eat. Perhaps you can modify your diet a little to bring your blood sugar down.

Welcome to the forum showkat! We are glad to have you as a member and I know you will feel comfortable here. Your fasting readings are a little on the high side. Can you tell us a little about your diet? Also, you should check to see what your blood glucose is before going to bed and then test when you get up to see if your readings are going high in the middle of the night. Your liver may be dumping on you. I hope that we can help you with some of your questions and I hope you will take the time to visit often. Take care & hurry back!

Welcome Showkat. It may be that your levels aren't necessarily high throughout the night, but are rising on toward morning - an aggravating problem known as dawn phenomenon.

Are you recently diagnosed? Tell us a little more about your diet, since you're managing without meds.

Thank you all for responding to my post..........Well my food details are:-----------1) I wake up around 5.30 am and immediately i go for 5 KM brisk walk. After coming back i take a glass of lemon juice with few table spoons of gooseberry juice. After one hour i take 3 egg whites, one cup salty tea and one piece of crisp bread( which has around 12 grams of carbs in it).I finish break fast by 8 am.After that i drive to my office which is around 70 kms away.I eat my lunch in my office at about 12.30 pm.In lunch i have one and a half cup of cooked long grain rice (starch drained)leaving just 12 gram carbs in it.Besides i take little quantity of beans or something like, some salad and a piece of red meat(30grams approximately) or piece of grilled chicken. At4pm around i again take one cup salty tea and one piece of crisp bread as mentioned earlier. At 6pm i take little fruit like half medium apple preferably not sweet or some thing like except bananas and mangoes. Finally at 9.30 pm i have dinner similar to my lunch. At bed time i take a few almonds and one walnut and two cashewnuts. That is how my diet goes at the moment.

I would like to mention here that i have been a rice eater and red meat eater(lamb meat) thoughout my life (one plate rice and two pieces red meat twice a day) So it is really hard for me to give it up in full.Such food is a routine in this part of world.I tried to give up rice in toto a couple of times but it makes me dull and it changes my behaviour as well.May be it has something to do with my brain.
Now here are my gulcose levels from last couple of days:-

10-7-10... BSF 138 PP 170 bed time 2hours after dinner 153

11-7-10... BSF 138 PP 163 bed time 2hours after dinner 137

12-7-10... BSF 150 pp 172 bed time 2hours after dinner 157

13-7-10... BSF 128 PP 158 After 4 hours from breakfast 107
2hours after lunch 216 , before dinner 107, after
one hour of dinner 199

14-7-10... 4.35 AM 145, 8.15 AM 142, After one hour of b.fast
169 , before lunch 122, 2 hours after lun,ch 199,
before dinner 111, after 2 hours of dinner 190,

15-7-10... 5.30 am 153, 8am 134, pp 167, before lunch 100,
1hour after lunch 206, 2 hours after lunch 190,
before dinner 164, 2 hours after dinne

16-7-10... 3a.m 135, 6.30am 124,after walk at 9a.m 133, after
one hour after breakfast (means right now lol) ...175

Those are details of my latest blood sugar readings though my morning sugar problem is not so eminent there. But i know this has been a problem since long.I always expect low readings after my morning walk but it is almost always against my expectations.Let me remind you of +20% ERROR in my gluco meter, so all the readings above may be read 20% less.I tried to discuss gluco meter error issue with so many people but every body tells same story of errors. so i have accepted it as it is.Cant help......

MAY GOD BLESS US ALL
