Default Waiting for my blood test results

Hi everyone! Total newbie here... been lurking for a bit, but decided to join today so I could post. I'm awaiting the results of my blood test from a routine physical. I'm a little nervous, simply because there is a phone-in service that you can call for your results when everything is in the "normal" range for the blood test results, . But instead I got a message from my doctor today that said that it's not an emergency, but she had the results of my blood test. Of course, when I called back (5 minutes later) the doctor had already left for the day. So now I am left to nervously wait until tomorrow morning. It's not that I have overt symptoms, but diabetes is very prevalent in my family so I know I'm at high risk.

**sorry, I posted this same message twice because I think I originally posted in the wrong forum**

Hi There and Welcome.

Yes, I'm sure that your concerned about the message but at least it wasn't a "Get to the Hospital immediately". Those are a bit worse.

Most People get the message that you did at some point and it turns out to be something minor going on in your system. Hopefully that is the same for you.

I've been annoyed a few times by them phoning and telling me to come to the office after having tests. Like one time, I had exrays done and they said to see the Doctor. I thought I had Cancer. Turns out it was just Pneumonia(not meaning to trivialize Pneumonia). Couldn't they have mentioned that so I wouldn't feel so stressed? They got my number from my file that time with the test results. Anyways, that's just me.

Not having an unquenchable thirst, feeling unusually tired and frequent urination is a hopeful sign.

Since you have many with Diabetes in your Family, I guess you've learned a few things about this disease.

I wish you Good news tomorrow and I hope that you are able to get some sleep.

(No problem with the double message. It has been taken care of).

Thanks Terrie, for your warm welcome and kind words!

Unfortunately, I'm still waiting on my blood test results!!! I called this morning and the doctor's not in today. So now I have to wait another day!!I'm so frustrated... first, the doctor calls me at 5pm and when I call back literally less than 5 minutes later, she already gone for the day. And then she's not in today? Why'd she even leave me that message in the first place so late in the day?!?! Just call me on Friday then so I don't have to wait around all panicky and nervous! Grrrrr....

I keep trying to calm myself down by reminding myself that she said it was not an emergency and that surely she would have called much sooner if something were really overtly wrong. And even though I don't think I have the symptons of diabetes, of course now I'm second guessing myself... thinking, "well, how 'frequent' is frequent urination anyways?" And, "what constitutes unquenchable thirst? I love drinking water (always have), does that mean I have unquenchable thirst?"

I'm driving myself bonkers!!! Sorry for this rant, but I'm so frustrated at the thought of having to wait yet another day!!

Hi There:

Don't worry, venting is allowed and expected on here. Venting makes us all feel better sometimes. You have it straight. She said,"Not an emergency". Otherwise, she'd have you looked after. So you can take some solace from that also.

Oh believe me, you would know unquenchable if you had it. When a Diabetic's sugar is high, they get a thin sugar-coating on their tongue that can literally be scraped off. No water or other drink that I know of can get through that film. Thus lots of liquid drinking to get rid of the thirst.

Well, if you know your normal bathroom routine, it shouldn't be hard to notice if you are urinating more often, especially at night more than once.

Hi SPW ,welcome to the forum .Sorry you have to go true the waiting of your test results .But like you said if it was an emergency she would send you directly at the emergency. To bad sometimes the MD don't think about the anxiety they create by phoning you & tell you to call back whithout leaving you a decent message. One time ,one call me told me to call back that's it at the end of the day "Nerveous anxiety Call the next day just to tell me that everything was OK. Hope you get your results soon .And like Terry told you an unquenchable thirst His a lot of water and you're still thursty .Bye Richard
