You might benefit by going to a sleep specialist.

... are you using insulin? Basals (Lev, Lantus) can cause odd dreams / sleep activities, if your dose a little too high. Look up Somogyi effect ... not proven.

But I have WILD, VIVID, dreams, if my Levemir dose is high --OR -- if I have just increased it.

I didn't know that! gosh something else to interfere with my sleep... I take Lantus. I do dream a lot actually come to think of it when I do sleep.

I've experienced leg cramps in the past, and it wasn't only at night. Do you experience leg cramps at any other time?

For me, the cause was dehydration. I'd suggest grinking a generous glass of water before going to bed.

I observed it the first time I used insulin, and each time I have increased the dose. Some of it is probably false hypo .... and I have seen the same observation from other people on forums ... AND, it is listed in the Levemir package insert as a side effect. So much small print!

I occasionaly get those calf cramps especially early in the morning. It seems if I roll over and stretch the wrong way a cramp starts and hurts like the dickens. I have started to take calcium before bed. I know it is not bg related because my bgs are usually under 100. I know there a lots of old wives tales about placing bars of soap under sheets, eating things with a lot of vinegar like mustard or taking some quinine water.
