Default Greetings - Need User Needs Info

Greetings!

I am Type 2 DM since 20003, this last year I've grown out of control in a1c from 6.2 - 9.6!

Dr just put me on Janumet, but I thought I had heard about pacreatitis with this med. So I need info! What is better than Janumet / comparable to it?

I have a 13 yr old so I have to beat this. Just lost his father last year to an aneurysm. I need to be here, healthy and well for him and I. I plan on getting back below 7.0 a1c because it's that important.

Janumet is composed of januvia and metformin. In my opinion, metformin alone would be a better choice.

Beyond that, you can bring your blood sugar down by adjusting your food intake and reducing your carbs and replacing them with fats. Go to LCHF for Beginners and find the best foods for you, and then start testing them by eating to your meter. This will get you a jump start on controlling your diabetes and place you on the path to good heath and a long life.

Welcome to the forum, Junique42

Good for you for wanting to gain good control of your diabetes. You're in good company on this forum for the members here are determined to keeping their BG low at all times so that they avoid diabetes complications.

Do come often and read lots. Especially the introductory threads of other new members - there you will read of peoples journey from poor control (and poor health) to success in beating the Diabetes Dragon.

As Shanny pointed out, the majority of those here who have gained good control follow a drastically reduced carbohydrate way of eating. We add in good, healthy fats (keeping protein at a moderate level). LCHF is an excellent way to eat the the foods are delicious.

Do check out the "Diet" and the "Recipe" sections here for more information on what wonderful and delicious meals one can indulge in on LCHF.

Welcome!

If you take just Metformin and reduce the carbs in your diet (yes, even the "healthy" carbs) your BG should drop nicely. If you have questions about what you're eating, just post here and we'll help!

Hi and welcome aboard . There is a recipe section on this board as well and widely varied, so lowering carbs doesn't mean boring.

Hi Junique42, welcome to the forum. I agree with Shanny about the met being the only good thing about the Jaunumet. I was taking it and dropped it immediately after reading about it.

Click here to read about it and the wonderful things comparable to it. I'm sure you won't be wanting them either.
