The main reason for a CGM is not so much checking your blood glucose levels after each 60 beats of your heart but to focus on the following 3 benefits:

1. The direction that your glucose is moving (Up, Down OR Stable)
2. The pace or acceleration your glucose is traveling by viewing the slope graphically
3. Set alarms for when you want to be notified for thresholds both high and low.

CGM's are also a strong indicator to see if you have compulsive or obsessive traits. If you go about your day only looking at your CGM at strategic times, your normal. If you use the CGM like 75% of the US population uses their IPhone, I advise one of following corrective actions

1. Toss the CGM in a large body of water with a large shark infested population
2. Prepare to ask your Med Insurance company for the most skilled
Psychiatrists in your area who specialize in manic disorders
3. Transform your mind, body and spirit to another, more simple and innocent time before the "Invasion of the Digital Demons of the 21st Century" overtook your world. I prefer 1976

The very first encounter I had with another person who became addicted to a IPhone was back in 2006 and he was unfortunate enough to cross paths with a BlackBerry. Legend goes that his 3 yr son took the Blackberry from his dad when they were walking by a fountain near a mall and tossed it into the water. At this point, the father had two options. He could see this as a omen and leave the Blackberry in its proper burial location 3 feet underwater and walk away never looking back or buy another one 15 min later and forever be imprisoned to a device that has no mercy. Im sad to say he chose the later

In the US, Dexcom is not approved by the FDA for dosing insulin. So even if one is on a CGM, if they are following the recommendations, then before injecting, they would take a fingerstick, in addition to calibrating at least 2x a day.

Also as someone who is really looking forward to a CGM, I'm a bit hurt by your thoughts on CGM and OCD... Please, let's be kind and not throw around stuff like that.
