Default I am a 61 year old diabetic

I am 61 and live in canada.
Have been a type 2 diabetic for 20 years and things nerver got better only more pills and insulin. This December 2016 I got fed up of my Doctor telling me to boost my insulin to lower my blood sugar for the ifff time. So I decided to go on a low carb high fat diet and suddenly I started felling better, more energetic, less depress and I started to loose weight.I am 5 foot 7 and weighted 212 pounds dont get me wrong I went to the gym 3 to 4 times a week and lifted heavy weights. But my diabetes was still out of control wake up in the morning my BS was between 10 and 12 and I was taking 1700 mg of glucophage and 34 units of lantus and a blood thinner and lipitor 40mg and a high blood pressure pill.
Here I am in March I weight 194 lbs still work out 3 to 4 times a week, no more insulin no glucophage no Lipitor and my blood sugar in the morningis between 6.5 and 7.5 still a little high but working on it. I try to keep my carbs below 20 grams per day and my fats at about 4o grams per meal. Thats who I am

Welcome Nicola

WOW, what a turnaround in your diabetes management. Just shows how much diet plays into the control of blood sugar.

I was 63 when diagnosed, but already knew about low-carb, and a couple years later adopted low-carb/high-fat. Works well for me, also.
