Red face Diabetic Type 2

Hi All,

I have diabetes type 2, was diganosed with gestational during my pregnancy 4 years ago and it stayed, however there is a strong family history on my dads side. (1 type 1 and 3 type 2).

My control is not very good, I was on glucophage made me very sick so moved to Diaglyc (90 mg a day) and now have just started Victoza which im hoping will help me lose weight-Im overweight.

However looking forward to this online forum and community!!!

Hi, Claragrace! Welcome to our little leaky boat awash in the sea of mis-information put out by our medical professionals, sad to say. Most of us are low carb/high fat, but not all by any means. I lost 50 lbs in about 8 months eating from ideas I gained from reading Dr. Bernstein, Dr. Atkins, and others and find I can eat safely now with new ways of cooking/eating and I really like it. Tell us more about yourself...like your A1C, your fasting #, and anything else you'd be willing to share or ask.

Good luck,

hi there and welcome there's lots of support and info here, please keep coming back

on a side note - i was on victoza, too. its not uncommon for victoza to 'stop working'. thats exactly what happened to me. this happened at the 6 month mark.

so if you keep an eye on your readings and your weight, if either start inching up at around 6 months, you'll have a reason. your mileage may vary tho

nice to have you here

ps made my first trip to ireland in november. it was AMAZING!!!!!!
