Default Possibility of Diabetes?

My youngest son is 7, very tall for his age, built like a rugby player and had a little extra weight on him. I've taken him to docs to ask if he is overweight but he says no he is just a big strong lad - not fat to look at in his view.

But I am really worried, my eldest son is built like me slim and athletic and no problems, my youngest has started having random headaches at school and home on a regular basis. I can't help but think of diabetes but he will not let me test him with the 'pricker' as he states he feels pain badly?!

My partner is taking him to the GP this week (I'm away working), could it diabetes?

Kids do come in all shapes and sizes. I have 5 kids, some are short some are over 6 feet. Some are very thin, others are on the overweight side. My oldest daughter is built like my husband, very muscular rugby player build. Have the doctor run the normal diabetes tests just to put your mind at ease, but I think he is probably OK. His headaches may be from an allergy, especially food allergy.

Although headache is usually listed as a symptom of diabetes, very few here complain of headaches. I believe constant thirst and frequent urination are more common symptoms.

If my kids were still living at home and I was worried about diabetes, I would secretly cut down on the amount of carbs they eat at home. It couldn't hurt.

Many thanks all,

For sure I have cut down his carbs and very mindful of his carb intake for sure. No particularly thirsty or visits to the restroom, I guess I'm over cautious. He has good vision and no need for glasses, I am glad to say he has a visit with the doc on Thursday which is a relief. It may well be allergy related - I hope so for sure.

Many thanks everyone for your responses :-)
