Question JillyD

Hi Guys. I'm very new to this, The Forum, but have been an insulin dependent, type 1 diabetic for 35 years. I'm a 61 year old Grandmother with a supportive Partner, 2 boys and 9 Grandchildren.
I have had pretty good control of my diabetes until recently when I had my first ever seizure, fracturing my back, hitting my head and giving myself a bad concussion.
I have been given the opportunity of going onto an insulin pump and would love any feedback from those who are on them???
Looking forward to learning how others manage.
First challenge is deciding which pump is easier to read / understand.
The two funded pumps in New Zealand are: Metronic and Animas Vibe.
Does anyone have either of these and can advise me???

Hi Jilly - welcome to the forum.

So sorry you find yourself in such a situation. How long ago was this, and are you on the mend now?

I am a T2 on no meds, so can't help you with your pump decision. Just wanted to welcome you. From what I've read here, most people are very happy with switching to a pump.

Could you meet with a rep for each brand and take a look at them?

Hi VeeJay
This was on 1st of June and I am on the mend but it will take a long time so they are telling me.
I have met with the two reps but of course they both want to sell their pump. Basically I just need to know if any pump users recommend either of these two which are funded here in New Zealand. The Animas is waterproof but the metronic appears to have less steps to enter or find details....
I dont think I need to worry about a pup being waterproof as Id take it off to shower or swim.
Thank you for the warm welcome. Lovely surprise to get a reply this morning.

Kind regards
Jilly
