my advice is 2 fold.

read other peoples stories and advice and check out the links in my signature.

also - if you want to, tell us your story. your A1C or your BG numbers, what you are eating, any medication you are taking, what you are considering changing or what path you are currently on.

after you provide some information, we can provide the experience and advice based on your specific situation.

if you are not comfortable with sharing any details, thats fine too. just check out the advice that has been provided to others and if it sounds reasonable and comfortable to you, you can try to follow it.

In either case, welcome to a place where you can feel comfortable sharing details that might put you in the right direction. We are here to lend a hand!

Hi Pete, welcome to the forum.

Yes, if you could tell us a little about yourself it would definitely help.

Being diagnosed with diabetes is scary, but if you take charge and do what needs to be done to control your blood glucose, then you avoid the complications that the disease can cause if not managed well. Many find, after learning as much as they can about the disease and start taking care of themselves, that they are overall more healthy because of the diagnosis. I know I did.

Look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome, pete!

Yup, if you've just been diagnosed, there's lots to think about. Reading the various forums here would be a good start to both learning what others have experienced and finding out what you want to learn more about.

I started reading up here when I was diagnosed and found lots of questions to ask the diabetes educator. I won't say she answered them all to my satisfaction, but the information learned here served as a springboard to asking more people my questions and determining how I wanted to treat my diabetes.

Good luck as you embark on your journey!
