Congrats on the success you have achieved so far. I wish you continued success and look forward to your future posts as you continue your journey. Really interested in how it goes with the transition to Medicare. I'll be 63 in April, but I better start studying up now.

Curious if by chance you tested your blood sugar before and after your gastric bypass. Some claims have been made that bariatric interventions actually lower one's BG and reverse/cure type 2 diabetes. You were certainly not cured or if you were you have become a born-again-diabetic. Just guessing you probably didn't test back then, because most doctors probably said it wasn't necessary.
@mbuster First thanks for the warm welcome.

I did test a lot back in those days, but that was like 10 or so years ago. I have no idea what my numbers were exactly but I believe they averaged under 140 pre and <120 post operation. It was after my physician thought we could use metformin to help weight lost that my numbers began raising into the 200 range.

By conjecture if you are pre-diabetic than I think the bariatric surgery can help reverse diabetes, but unlike myself one needs to give attention to the lifestyle that brought on the weight and the diabetes, genetic factors aside.

Whether I live or die, I am changing how I eat for the better. Food is my medicine.
