You are a year further along then me! Tonight it's likely I'll try my first humolog, which was just prescribed. Otherwise, I've been on 17u lantus. I've just gone to 8u AM and 9u PM.

Just saying, "Hi" and welcome!

I am learning though. As a type 1 and being on insulin, I'm not yet cozying up to the LCHF diet. I have completely given up refined sugar, soda, most desserts (rare exception), etc. I also gave up white flour and potatoes. I like nuts for snacking, but haven't given up the M&Ms that seem to float in my nut mix. (Sure, I make it myself, but. . .).

I don't drink alcohol; thankfully!

Things made more sense a few months back. Alas, though, my honeymoon is ending.

Hi Ruthless,

Welcome to the forum. I worked with a lady named Ruth, and when she was on leave, we used to say that we were "Ruthless." Your nic gave me a chuckle

I'm always looking for snacks to eat. For snacks, I like to eat about an oz of peanuts or almonds. I like the smokehouse almonds. I also eat about a handful of pecans. I like to eat pecans between meals when I start to get hungry. I usually have boiled eggs on hand. Lately, I haven't been much for boiled eggs. I also like to make deviled eggs, and I just keep them in the fridge. I don't eat pork, so pork rinds or "chicharrones," as we call them in TX are not on my menu. I heard they are good with guacamole. Guacamole is my go-to fat food.

Hope you continue to post.

Hi alamogirl and Ruthless,
My big snack food is Pistachios but recently someone warned me about the salt content of a pistachios.

So I read the nutritional labels today as I bought some Sea Salt and Peppar Pistachios. Interesting thing about that - the bag of pistachios that were advertised as plain had more salt than the bag of Pistachios advertising sea salt.

Guess it's important to read the nutritional labels LOL

Well, you do sound like me a year or so ago. I, after one year, did get a glucose monitor and saw how I was spiking to over 200 after meals with the "matching" insulin so, with that, I divided my meal and ate half now and half an hour or so later and it helped some so it is a tool for me at times. Overall the spikes (and drowsy lackluster way it made me feel) and sometimes lows, when I got real distracted or busy in the yard, sent me to the much lower carb and higher protein and I am currently working on that with my present type of insulin. Just waiting for the day I can quit having to do all this tweaking
and thinking about it...am I dreaming??

Great day full of fun activites and thoughts NOT about your diet and BG # to all!

Hi alamogirl and rsfletcher! Well, I got that nic back in school when I was ruthless with my approach toward my profession; think I like the "she is not here" meaning better!

Thanks for sharing all the stories everyone as it is inspiring and helps you realize you are not alone with your struggle...which could be much worse I keep reminding myself!
