Default Hi from India

Hi friends, I am from India 36 year male and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2007. I had inherited from my parents, however was quite shocked to get it early when my parents were diagnosed in their mid forties. When diagnosed in 2007, my fasting was 168 mgs/dl and post meal after 1.5 hrs was 346 mgs/dl. However with the good support of doctors and my wife, presently I am showing better figures of 110 and 170. Pursuing strict medication, diet and morning walk (schedule of which is getting erratic these days). I have a lean physique and never was obese in my life.

Very much pleased to find a forum where I could share with fellow diabetics and also understand trends in terms of diet and medicines. Please to meet you all and let's be in touch, regards

You might be interested in trying a couple of things -- could you be LADA -- slow-onset Type 1, if you are lean? Type 1 often is in the same families as Type 2, even. There is an antibody test, to read more, see the Blood sugar 101 website.

What are you eating -- those numbers are not optimal. Are you vegetarian and do you eat rice and breads?

Thanks! I am non vegetarian but nowadays drastically reduced the content of meat intake and reduced quantum of intake of regular food too. I eat rice regularly which I think should adds more to BG levels. I am consulting doctor this week and expecting changes in dose. My HB1 is 6.9%, will update this weekend.

Welcome!!!

Definitely cutting out the rice would help a LOT. I know that rice tends to be a big part of the meal in India, like potatoes are in North America. It's hard to get out of that mindset, and everything is more expensive than the cheap starchy filler foods! Why are you cutting down on meat?
