Default Welcome to my world!

The value of posting on this diabetes forum is that I have no one to talk to face-to-face ..as my week is absorbed by work ..plus ..I'm too tired after my shift to get home ..freshen-up ..attend a Support Group ..travel home ..then sleep ..before I get up for work again.

I can log into a diabetes forum ..view conversations ..and perhaps submit my own point of view?

Diabetes is one of the best things that has happened to me ..it gives me a purpose ..and has given my life meaning ..and something to occupy my mind with.

Because walking is key to my regimen ..this also helps clear my mind ..and is of-course good for my heart.

Over the years ..I've had short conversations with other folk with diabetes ..and this has been helpful.

Welcome to my world!

Welome Ajax

This is, indeed, a support group with members of all walks of life - but all with diabetes. The collective experience and knowledge of the membership here is awesome. I'm sure you'll feel right at home here.

Visit often, join in the discussions, and ask any questions you may have. We're here for each other.

Welcome to the forum, ajax!

I would agee that my T2 diagnosis was one of the best things that has happened to me recently -- it woke me up enough to start addressing my health and to make a few other changes which also were long overdue.

This is a great forum with lots of experience and support. I'm looking forward to your posts!

Hi Ajax!
A few things that I have appreciated about these forums
1. I know much more about Type 2 than I did before (I'm a Type 1 so my focus in the past was that type of diabetes)
2. That I was not the only one who discovered by experience that certain carb vegetables are worse than candy.
3. The experiences of people with diabetes who post on the forums is far more relevant and valuable than a doctor reading the marketing material of some new diabetes management tool or a pharma spin to a study.
4. Diabetes (all types) does not discriminate based on race, gender age or religion. From that perspective we are all equal.

I could go on but I better get back to work.

Welcome ajax. I know what you mean. I look at diabetes as a second chance to improve my life and what I put into my body. I'm not glad I have it, but I'm healthier now than I was, say a year ago

I've learned a lot from these fine folks here. I try to visit everyday. It gets a tad difficult on the weekends, but I log on each day at work. While everyone has their facebook page open, I have this site open. Ok, I minimize it...LOL!

I hope you continue to post!

Hi ajax, welcome to the forum.

Although I have not attended any organized support groups for diabetics, I can only imagine they are following, in the most part, recommendations put out by the ADA or its equivalent. Those recommendations for Type 2, I have tried and they do not work for me. Finding this forum and LCHF has has done more for helping me get on the right track in controlling my BG than anything else. There may be some medications that could have gotten my BG down to acceptable range, but not without potential consequences that are not acceptable to me.

Again, welcome to the forum. Looking forward to you sharing your experiences.
