Default Hi

I signed up in 2013 but never posted, sorry! I'm 51, and been T1D since 2. 49 years now. Mostly I've been fortunate with complications. I do have neuropathy and only 1 kidney from a different problem at age 1 1/2. My kidney has been hanging on but my GFR is down to 52. Not terrible but now must watch it.
I've been in a pump, but went back to MDI's as I'm short (lol) and have a lot of scared from surgeries so I'm doing better with injections. I'll be on the forum more often from now on! Thanks

Welcome back, I came here out of desperation, and because Cricket recommended it. Diabetes has driven me nuts, because I would patch a problem, then here came something else.
The doctors would shrug off any complaints, like pain, as some kind of crookedness. If I complained of pain, the one and only thing that came to their pea brains; was that I was subtlety asking for oxycodone. Jerks.
So, here I am, and I am asking questions, from the ones like me, who suffer the same ailments. So far with pretty good success.

Welcome back, TruckeeMike! There are a few other folks here who signed up or even posted a little and then kind of wandered off and then decided to come back. It's a great site for information and support and I like the variety of experiences here. Among all the differences (T1/T2, veteran/newbie, whatever) we face many of the same issues and it's rewarding to see posters help each other through them. I'm looking forward to seeing more posts from you.

Thanks for the reply everyone. Squakx I have a lot of pain as well. Nerves. I'm fortunate to have a good Endo though. All of us rummage through the day to keep going. I felt it is a good time for me to come back here to chat with people! Thanks again!

Default Welcome Back

I too have wandered and strayed and made it back here again. My A1C was 6.7% back in May when I decided to get serious. It was amazing that it was not higher. I basically achieved that with very little effort which just proves in my mind that to really be in control you must be in the 5% to avoid complications. I am eagerly looking forward to my August A1C results and my probable reintroduction to the 5% club.

Squakz, I know what you mean. The 'opiod crisis' reactions has made people who don't abuse meds and just want to get through the day without swearing like a trucker (I do and that totally cool!), as well as going from quarterly Dr appts to monthly. I'm irritated at the reaction that makes people like us go thru this. I'm not mad at addiction, it's a disease too and I have a close friend who went thru that. My Dr is 'pissed' about the reactions that have come. Here's looked into it and swears to me the insurance CO's helped write all the new laws and the list of meds that are included. He figured it out when he read insurance info that plainly said they just don't wanna pay for pain meds, but the list of meds went far beyond pain meds. Included cancer drugs too, yes in the new laws for opiates.. Cancer meds were also in the list.
Anyway, I think you and I will reply to each other a lot in the future. Until then..👍
