Welcome! Why don't you tell us a little about yourself -- which type of diabetes you have, how you're managing it, etc.?

Hi. Welcome to the forum.

This is a great group of folks who have one thing in common - the determination to gain and maintain control of their diabetes.

For me, a complete change in the way I ate was the key. When I stopped eating foods high in carbohydrates, my blood sugar came down. Because I was testing every time I ate, I found out quickly what foods I needed to avoid, and which ones had little impact on my BG (blood glucose).

I'd like to recommend you read some on www.bloodsugar101.com for a good understanding of diabetes. There's a link on the home page to an article "How To Lower Your Blood Sugar" which is a testing method that many of us on the forum use.

If you reduce carbohydrates and test as per above, you'll find it won't be long before your BG comes down quite a bit.

Welcome to the forum gamtn06. I'm glad you found us. This is a great place to seek support. This group was my life saver. I managed to go from an A1C of 10.5 to 5.3.

It looks like you had T2 under control at one time. Hope you continue to visit and post. There are lots of knowledgeable people here to answer any questions you have.

gamtn06. welcome, you have just joined a very large group of fellow diabetics. We will share our experiences and tell you how we "took control" of our diabetes. I to had real high blood sugars and was frustrated that I just could not take a few pills and control it. I also found out in time that my doctors and nurse educators did not tell me a lot of things I needed to know about this disease and how to control it.

When I found this website and started reading and viewing the information on bloodsugar 101 above, I finally started learning how "I" could control this disease without taking more medications. View the website and learn all you c an. Then ask questions to us, once you have the same information we all have, you will be amazed how you can take control! Key Point....You do not have to starve yourself or even cut back on your food intake. Because it is about changing what you eat, not how much you eat....

Come on in, the water is fine...
