Default Hello

Hello, my name is John and I am 60 years old. I was diagnosed 21 years ago. Began my diabetic journey using multiple daily injections and then switched to oral medications for a few years before having to go back to MDI. Started using an insulin pump about 8 years ago. My BG's have been pretty well controlled to date. My last A1c this past January was 6.3. My weight is another issue and I'm probably about 80-90 pounds over a good weight for me.
My forum MO is to only visit forums when I have a question or investigating something. While at forums, if I see a discussion I can contribute to I will. I was a member of the Insulin Pump Forums but it seems they are gone.
I have started a low carb diet just several days ago in an effort to shed some weight. Carbs have been my weight control issue forever. Not sweets but breads, chips, etc.. Exercise is another issue as well. What brings me here now is that I forgot to adjust down my insulin when changing out my infusion set/reservoir last. I use 3ml reservoirs and filled it, as usual, on Monday at 5PM and I still have 120u left! I hate to waste it and was wondering what my options may be?

Thanks,
John

Welcome, John!

I'll admit that your question is completely out of my wheelhouse but I'm sure it's one someone else here can answer, so I'll just say 'hi'.

Hi John, welcome to the forum.

Hopefully some of our pump users will be around soon to answer your question. Until then I do hope you peruse through our threads and find several of enough interest to respond to. If it is an older thread that might be closed, feel free to start a new thread to start a fresh conversation about the topic.

I do have a question, you say you went from MDI to oral meds for a few years and then back to MDI. Your profile shows Type 1, is this correct, because I'm not aware of oral meds for type 1. Or were you originally diagnosed as type 2, but were really a type 1 in honeymoon phase at that time? I know of several type 1's or 1.5's that were early on mis-diagnosed as type 2. Always curious of how things get corrected.

I was one of those people who were diagnosed as type 2 until I went to the endocrinologist and had the GAD test. The type 2 meds did no good and were making me sick.
