Hi Carlene, welcome to the forum. I think many of us here, have, at some time in the past, been in your situation and have worked thru it. I. like div2liv, think that finding this forum has been a very positive influence on the improvement of my health in general and specifically in managing my diabetes.

With what little time you have been here, after reading your posts and now knowing you are a farmer, I can see you know the difference between fertilizer and BS. I look forward to reading your future post.

Carlene, I had a similar experience. After I was diagnosed the doctor sent me to a registered dietician in the hospital. She basically said eat very low carbs, supplementing vegetables and limiting fat intake. I tried that but I was hungry all the time, and the cravings eventually wore me down.

Only after I found this website, and did the reading on the website did I find something that made since! Reduce your carb intake, increase you fat intake to offset the lack of carbs!

This LCHF saved my life....check it out! It is well researched science and it is just plain common since...!

Unless they were high on meth, no RD would tell you to eat very low carbs AND very low fat. You wouldn't get enough calories to maintain your energy! I'm sorry to introduce a bad vibe into such a good forum, but there's a lot of mistrust towards health professionals here. Registered dietitians have done me a lot of good.

I'm sure there are some RDs who give good advice and I'm glad you have one. As members here relate their experiences (which is really all we CAN do with certainty) the general advice of eating 45 grams of carbs per meal with two snacks of 15g each doesn't work for many.

The use of the glucose meter to test how various carb loads affect an individual's blood sugar is paramount in gaining control, and we on the forum do advocate testing. If one can handle the above carb load, well and good. But if not, then one should look for another way to get BG down.

Everyone of the T2 members here is an individual and their diabetes is unique to them as far as how much insulin production they have and how pronounced is their insulin resistance and what other issues impact their BG. We encourage folks to relay their own personal experience because that is what we know to be true.

With diabetes, one size does not fit all.

I can only present what my own experience has been, just as you have offered on your posts! If you noticed this happened to me over 13 years ago...

The RD said to limit fat intake not eat very low fat. To me, there is a difference, at least that is how I understand it.
