Good that you have a meter and are checking, shaido. No, those aren't particularly high numbers - under 100 is always good - but they don't tell us anything else much unless we know when they were taken. When you first get up for the day, take a test before you eat or drink anything, and that is your fasting blood glucose (fbg). If you are trying to determine how your metabolism is processing the foods you eat, you need to test at one and two hour intervals after you eat. These are called postprandial readings.

If you have a record of when these readings were taken & what you had eaten, we can make a little more sense of it. The postprandial readings are especially helpful in early diagnosing of any metabolic irregularities.

Okay,

One was fasting early in the morning before eating anything and the other was 2 hours after dinner.

I had a lot of cookies and such right up until bed. I over ate really anyways my fasting measurement this morning is 104. It looks like I will need to do further testing.

Hey Shaido,

Hello I am DocWhitley and I was very confused when I was first diagnosed but, with a little determination and a ton of help from the people here I was able to drop my A1C tremendously over only 2 months. Now my Doctor tells me I over tested... My wife tells me I need to do what I need to do and my mind tells me I need to know what my body is telling me... So what was my testing schedule like for the first couple of weeks???

Morning Fasting
Eat Breakfast
1 hour after
2 hour after
Snack
1 hour after
2 hour after
Eat Lunch
1 hour after
2 hour after
Snack
1 hour after
2 hour after
Eat Dinner
1 hour after
2 hour after
Eat Snak
1 hour after
2 hour after
And if you can 2 in the morning

I did this routine for a couple of days... and then I was able to learn that I would have a peak at about 1 hour after eating and then drop off after that... I also was able to learn that stupid things that you would not think would matter did example- Coffee with milk vs Coffee with Soy Milk. I also learned that I get Shaky at 75 and if I do not eat some Carbs then I will soon be at 130 because my body will release Glucose. So there are a ton of things you can learn. I now only test in the morning and maybe 1-2 times through the day and at night to decide if I want a carb snack or Protein. I do not like for my body to release Glucose because I do not trust it... maybe one day but, for now I like to control it
