I just got the test results from the lab appt. I had on 9/15/11. I'm pretty happy with them but I suspect when I see my doctor next week he's going to want to continue with the present treatment, which I'm not willing to do.

Anyways, here are the numbers:

6/13/11 9/15/11
A1C 12.7 5.8
Chol 250 193
HDL 36 41
LDL 177 138

Look at those cholesterol numbers. Don't let anyone tell you that animal fats raise your cholesterol. I went LC/HF the day I was diagnosed and look what happened. I have butter and cream in some kind of sauce almost every day, frequently in a cheese sauce.

ALL those numbers are good . . . the A1c is OUTSTANDING! And all in three months' time. Good work!

Thanks for emphasizing that dietary fat - even animal fat - does NOT raise lipids. When will they ever learn?!

And you'll want to get off the glyburide, eh? Good idea. Stick to your guns.

And congratulations on those numbers!

Cac67, awesome job on those numbers! I am hoping so much that when I get my next blood test at end of November my lipids will be really good too! I am doing LC/HF, and my endo certainly agrees with the CO! Here's hoping everything stays that way!

I worried about nothing. I told the dr. that I wanted to switch from glyburide to metformin and he said good idea. So I now have a prescription for metformin er 500mg once daily. He said if that dose wasn't enough to call and he'll adjust it.

Awesome results! I was in a similar boat as you after my first set of results since my Dx:

Triglycerides Old - 329, New - 151
LDL Old - 199, New - 97
HDL Old - 27, New - 30
BP 100/65
Fasting BG Old - 113, New - 92
Cholesterol Old - 293, New - 158
HbA1c Old - 6.3, New - 5.8

My doc adjusted my meds a bit...taking me off Simvastatin and onto Crestor :( and upping my Ramipril dose to 5mg from 2.5mg. He was happy with the amount of effort I had put in and that my numbers were better but.....I think the reason he changed me over to Crestor was that Crestor lowers cholesterol levels while raising HDL levels while Simvastatin only lowered cholesterol. i think he did so because I told him I was doing a LCHF diet and he thought the Crestor would offset the high levels of fat intake lol.

Like you, the HDL level did not increase that much and that is one of the key numbers they look at along with cholesterol. It's also one of the slowest to rise. Typical!

Keep up the great work!
