Hello all,
I just finished the first week of my diet with a weight loss supplement called Almased. It's a powder made from soy, yogurt and honey that you mix with water or milk and use as a meal replacement.
I chose it because I really have a hard time losing weight because of the diabetes and I don't like to experiment with things that are chemical. But this powder is all-natural, has no added sugar or stimulants and has a glycemic index of 27 and a glycemic load of only 4, so I felt safe that it wouldn't effect my blood sugar levels too much. Also, a friend of mine had used it last year and lost 30 pounds in 6 weeks with it.
I asked my doctor about it because I wanted to make sure and he said that he thought I should give it a try and I did. I already love it!
I called their office and talked to their nutritionist and she suggested that I start out with a fast and have 3 Almased shakes a day for no more than 2 weeks. I can also drink vegetable broth during this time. Today is my 8th day and I feel great. The drinks keep me full and I have lots of energy. I don't even mind that I can't eat at the moment. I have already lost 6 pounds and I will definitely continue on the fast until the two weeks are up. Then I will have 2 shakes a day and one meal until I reach my goal weight ( I have 20 more pounds to lose).
I was really sceptic at first because I usually don't like meal replacements but this one is actually effective AND healthy AND safe for someone with diabetes! I really like that it's all-natural and works in a natural way to help my body lose weight and that I don't have to be scared of negative side effects. I expected to be hungry, tired and grumpy but I am full of energy and in a great mood, I sleep better at night and I love how this diet makes me feel (and look!).
