A little overwhelmed

Hello,

I'm a 50-year-old woman, overweight, sedentary and non-smoker. Good cholesterol levels very good, bad cholesterol high-normal. Blood pressure is great.

The doctor told me last week that my the result of my fasting glucose test was 5.7 (102.6 in US). She ordered an oral glucose tolerance test and A1c.

I've been asked to take the OGTT twice before in my life, when I was about 10, and again when I was about 40. Both times, the doctors told me that the results were fine.

My sister was also told her sugar levels were on the high side (but not diabetic levels) a couple of years ago. She lost a lot of weight, watched her carbs religiously, and is now deemed to be out of trouble. I am not aware of any other close relative with diabetes.

The doctor told me to cut out all refined carbs and that I should only eat vegetables for dinner, and to wach fruit intake. I am frankly terrified of eating anything right now. I admit to having had a wicked sweet tooth, and I was drinking a lot of regular soda.

Should I buy a blood sugar meter? What numbers should I be looking for? or watching out for?

I kinda hope that the OGTT comes back normal as it has twice before, but I'm sure age is not on my side. Also, I am heavier now than I was when I took the test previously.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi dear,

All the data mentioned by you suggests that you who knows you may
be a prediabetic one .You must subject yourself to constant monitoring of OGTT
and other parameters, ahn there is no harm to remain onthe safer side
