Trying to get my A1C down, for years it was about 6.4 to 6.9 then went to 10.4 to 9.4. This month I’m on a new medication have dramatically changed the way I eat. Hardly any sugar only one diet soda a week. Lots of veggies and very very low carbs with exercise. Has this worked for anyone?

I can't speak with personal experience, but I know there are people eating low carb who also are vegan (no animal products of any kind), so it can be done. The tricky bits are:
  • getting enough protein (since meat/poultry/fish/eggs/cheese are much more concentrated protein sources and you may need higher levels of protein depending on how much you exercise). If you just want to cut back on animal protein, though, this should not be a big issue;
  • avoiding Vitamin B12 deficiency (again, an issue for strict vegans, not someone who just wants to eat less animal protein); and
  • net carb levels (some veggies, of course, are very high in carbs)

Searching the Web will get you to some reputable sites that can guide you with tips and pitfalls of eating this way. Good luck!
