LOL - I'll own up to being a first-class idiot just a month ago.

I was having some acid reflux, pretty unusual for me, but then my diabetic event was filled with peculiarities. Anyway, a roll of Tums ran out, so I looked online - apple cider vinegar, a couple of Tbs, cool!

So - I get the ACV and - oh yes I did - turned it up and took a swig right from the bottle. It burned like a son of a ... @@#$U#Yy!!!! I was sure my esophagus had sprung several resulting leaks.

I then learned the fine art of dilution.

:D:D Now that was just plain old funny :D:D:D I don't dilute it much just so I can do it in one gulp. Then chase it with something else.

Yuppers. After which I'd barf it up and waste the vinegar, as well as giving myself an unpleasant experience.

About those tablets: they each contain 500 mgs. The only study I've read fed the subjects 20 grams. If I am calculating correctly, that would take 40 tablets. :(

I read someplace the real thing was much better as the tablets had a lot of fillers in them. And the tablets were much more expensive. Like I said Buck UP you can do it. 1/2 cup diet green tea and tablespoon of ACV, drink and then have another glass of diet green standing by ready to wash down. Seriously it has gotten a lot easier to do. In fact I think if I really wanted to I could take direct then wash down.

How about pickles? I love dill pickles, had forgotten about them.

All this may be for nothing. Jenny, of Blood Sugar 101, says the research supports only a tiny effect, if any at all, of vinegar on blood glucose.

I am trying the Pickle Solution, for just two dinners. Saw a dramatic decrease in the two-hour postprandial score. Anecdotal "evidence" like this is not evidence at all, and coincidence is a likely explanation. Still, I'll keep eating pickles and posting results.

Maybe I'll write a book: "The Pickle Solution For Reversing Diabetes." Make a website, too. Probably market a line of pickles. :p

A tip for investors - buy stock in the pickle market. That will really take off after I publish my book.

My two-hour postprandial readings are much lower since I started adding 2 pickle spears to my dinners. Really!

Here's an example: yesterday, my before dinner score was 98. Two hours after dinner it was 88. Can anything as simple as a pickle actually help with insulin resistance? Seems unlikely to me, so I'll keep testing and reporting.

Ask your doctor if pickles are right for you.

Last evening, before dinner 90, two hours after, 100. In the days BP (before pickles), my two-hour scores were usually 120 - 130.

I am working on my second book: Pickle Power: The Cure For What Ails You. It will discuss how pickles are effective medicine against a wide array of ailments, such as dyspepsia, dementia, and ingrown toenails.

Okay Sharon - it's time you described these pickles in more detail: Are they dills? Lime pickles? Bread & butter pickles? Sours? Enquiring minds want to know! There's still time to plant cucumbers this year & grow my own crop! :D :D :D

:) Vlasic Polish dill spears. I eat two spears at the beginning of each dinner.

This is a strange one - would appreciate a reasonable explanation:
Last night before dinner 90, 2 hours after dinner 67.

67? I haven't seen that number since I started keeping records in October.

I think it's the acidity that is supposed to bring down glucose. Lemons are also recommended.

Bad news on my Pickle Cure. Yesterday I went from 83 before dinner to 134 two hours after. Highest score I've seen in a long time. I retested and got the same result.

I'll keep going with this, after all, I am working on my third book: Pickled In Peoria. It's about a town that added pickles to its diet and lowered the rates of crime, unemployment, road rage, and Viagra.

OK, I was finding this thread simply humorous entertainment until I read this post. Now I seriously intend to put the theory to test as well. I'll have my wife report back the results... :peace:
